The Emperor

Since the first primitive humans evolved, the species had developed a special relationship with the warp. The simple hunters and harvesters of early times recognized the natural forces which flowed through all living things like a great river of life bringing sustenance to the dead earth. Some of these early humans were more sensitive than others to the hidden movements of the warp. They could sense the rhythm of the warp as its energies moved through living things, and sometimes they could predict the future by means of subtle variations in the flow of warp energy. The most successful of these humans assumed the role of shaman or tribal witch, and used their powers to benefit their people.
As human numbers increased and human civilization grew away from its natural roots the particular warp energies created by humans began to dominate the warp. Where the energies of nature were harmonious and benign, those of man were often disharmonious and dangerous. Power, ambition, greed, lust and a thousand other human feelings took root in the warp and began to grow. As the thoughts and emotions of men became stronger, the natural rhythms of the warp were disrupted and became less accessible to the shamans. Inevitably, the process of civilization severed mankind's links with the natural forces of the warp, and created new ones based upon his own character. In time these disharmonious forces were to grow into the Chaos Powers.
The Emperor was born while the rhythm of the warp still flowed strongly through all natural things. The old shamans were guided by the warp and in their turn guided their people. But even then the growing power of humanity was beginning to make itself felt, and the shamans feared that their knowledge and whole way of life would eventually pass away. The energies they depended apon were becoming increasingly difficult to tap. Worst of all, they were losing the ability to reincarnate. For as long as anyone could remember, when a shaman died his soul had flown into the warp and bathed in its energies, awaiting renewal in another body. Now, the souls were being lost, chased and consumed by the malignant Chaos Powers.
Terrified for the future of their race, all the shamans of Earth gathered in one place and began the longest and most important debate in the history of humanity, lasting centuries and leading to the birth of the New Man.
After hundreds of years of debate and research the shamans came to the conclusion that they were doomed, and that without them the whole race would soon fall prey to the psychic entities it had created in the warp. At the same time the disruption of the natural rhythm of the warp would result in the inevitable decline of the whole planet. They divined a future when all of creation would be consumed by mankind's greed and ambition.
Although their own power was still strong the shamans realized that they could survive for one or two further incarnations. They were not men to accept death easily. Many of them could remember the dawn of their race, when in other bodies they had walked under African skies. Having survived for so long, for millions of years, it was not their way to die without hope or purpose. They therefore decided to pool their own energies by reincarnating in a single body. In their thousands they swallowed poison, and in their thousands they died, and their kind was gone from the Earth.
Within a year the man later to be known as the Emperor was born. As he grew older his powers began to manifest themselves and he gradually remembered the thousands of lives that lay behind him. He was the New Man. But he was also the past. His powerful mind could still sift the natural energies of the warp, enter the lives of plants and animals, promote harmony, and ease the suffering of others. And he remembered how he was made to live forever, so that he would never have to reincarnate, but would survived unchanged for eternity. At last he remembered everything that had led up to his birth, and he left his own people to begin his endless journey around the world and through human history.

The Emperor may be included in any Space Marine Army and counts as one of its HQ choices. He must be used exactly as described below, and can not be given any additional equipment. He may be only used in a battle where both players have agreed to the use of special characters.

Wargear: A Lightening Claw, Runesword, Terminator Armour and a Rosarius (4+ Invulnerable save).

SPECIAL RULES

Runesword: The Emperor's Runesword counts as a power weapon with a plus 1 to the user's strength. It wounds Daemons automatically. When used in conjunction with His Lightening Claw, The Emperor gains the extra dice in hand to hand combat.
Deep Strike: In missions that use Deep Strike the Emperor and His Command Squad may take advantage of this. Follow the regular Deep Strike instructions, but roll twice for deviation. Keep track of both points, of which the controlling player may choose one. If a double one comes up on a roll ignore it and use the second roll. If two sets of double ones comes up, then there is a malfunction in the Emperor's teleport rig. Award points as if He was destroyed. He's not really destroyed, but it would have a negative effect on Imperial moral (which is just as bad).
Command Squad: The Emperor may take a command squad as normal. You may place members of the squads in Terminator Armour (with a Storm Bolter and Powerfist) for an additional 18 points per model. If the squad is in Terminator Armour then you may not upgrade any models to a Techmarine or Apothecary. If you upgrade one to a Standard Bearer, the standard replaces the Powerfist.
Psychic Powers: The Emperor is a powerful psyker. If He rolls a double one on a psychic test, He's not attacked by a beast from the warp. He may still be attacked on a roll of double 6.
Lance of Power: The Emperor may attempt to use the Lance of Power psychic power in His own shooting phase. Lance of Power counts as a weapon and hits automatically using the following profile;
Range 24" Strength 9 Pene 2 Assault 1
Pressure Wave: The Emperor may attempt to use the Pressure Wave psychic power in His own assault phase. Pressure Wave counts as a weapon and hits enemy models automatically using the following profile;
Range 6" Strength 6 Pene 4 Assault 1
Righteous Fury: The Emperor has a 6" move and a 12" charge.

Boom! One color scanner and 5 min. and I have a good picture of my Fig. What do you think?
Lets see. A lot of people have asked me how I made this model. So I'll tell you.
First, I took a Plastic Terminator and cut of the helmet. I then got myself a Thunder Hammer right arm and removed the hammer. To this I added the plastic sword off the Sgt. model (its getting changed to the new one off the Captain model in Termie Armour). Then I took a regular power fist arm and sharpened the fingers. It looks just like the Lightening Claw he has in the picture. Under the place where the helmet was is the Imperial Eagle. I used green putty to make it look a little cooler, just bulked up the body. I rummaged through my bits box and found all manners of little winged things. I used the top of a marine banner pole on the lightening claw, some old "No Longer Avail." back banner poles that had an Imperial Eagle on them for the leg decorations. You can't see it but there is even an Eagle on the back of the armour. I added some spikes to the top of the terminator armour. I found a metal purity seal, that went on his Claw. And last of all added the face of the Necromunda Bounty Hunter with the bionic arm. It had the "American Indian" type look I wanted.
Now painting... well that's a bit more complicated. Anything I didn't mention in the above paragraph is painted on. So I cant give to many pointers there. Just look at the picture
I know one of the guys at GW made a model of the Confrontation Picture. He made the Emperor in white armour. Now look at the picture. Does that look white? No. It looks kinda black or metallic, so I painted mine in a bronze/gold type style. I think it looks cooler (anything I paint looks cooler in my eyes). The guy who made it is a LOT better at painting than me, so I give him his dues. [If you read this, Mr. McVey, drop me a line as to why its white? Oh, your Horus stomps all over mine. =) ]
